Physical Rescue assisting 110
Sat. May 8th 2010

Squad 42 with personnel was requested by Chief 110 to help with a physical rescue of a  female that was entangled in a briar patch.  The victim was approx. 25 ft off of the Grove Run Trail in the Linn Run State Park.  110 and 42 units along with Mutual Aid Ambulance out of Stahlstown and Ligonier Township Police hiked approx. 2 - 3 miles to the victims location. All rescue personnel were led by a hiker who had come across the woman while hiking. EMS personnel provide initial care and fire personnel assisted with bringing the woman out on a stokes basket.  The DCNR park ranger meet with the units and advised of the easiest and fastest path out of the park.   At this point Chief 110 requested 43 to assist with manpower only and they assisted in carrying the last part to Quarry trail.  After the patient was carried to the top of Grove Run Trail we were meet by additional 110 and 43 units on 4x4 ATV's. The crews then followed Quarry Trail down to the main road where the patient was placed into the ambulance and then taken to the hospital.

We would also like to extend thanks to  the two hikers that found the victim and lead us to her and also helped carry her out.
