As part of our monthly training within the three Ligonier Township Companies, members from Darlington V.F.C., Wilpen V.F.C., Waterford V.F.C. and our guest Fairfield V.F.C. and MedStar participated in a landing zone class provided by MedStar which operates out of Somerset.  Members were instructed by Kevin Stiffler who is Chief 111 and a member of the MedStar team, and several other members of the MedStar team where there to field our questions.  Members learned procedures that would keep firefighters and the helicopter crews safe while at a landing zone, such as the size and locations of a LZ.  How departments can mark power lines, instruction on how to talk to the pilots, and to check the LZ before the Helicopter is near the for possible obstructions that could pierce the bottom aircraft when landing.  We would like to thank everyone involved in this very informative class.
